Senior Care Act

The Kansas Senior Care Act program provides a coordinated system of services for the elderly to help those that may not be able to care for themselves. Services differ in each county, and this year may see a reduction in the number of services due to budget constraints. However, typically, attendant care, respite care, homemaker, chore services, adult day care, and transportation are available.

To be eligible, individuals must be Kansas residents, aged 60 or older, and have an assessed impairment in two or more activities of daily living and in three or more instrumental activities. They also must meet the income and asset limits, but this information is not published.

The costs of services range from free to 100% of the fee. Most states provide services free to individuals within 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, which is approximately $10,000 a year.

To learn more or determine if you are eligible, contact your local Kansas Area Agency on Aging.
